Back from Boston, MA

My advice, when going to Boston, MA., is to attend the activities surrounding the Boston Pops Orchestra on the green. There were tons of people, with lots of tarps (lots of rain that morning), umbrellas, coolers, folding chairs, blankets (it got a little chilly at dusk, then warmed up), and lots of time together. Notice the shell behind Ben's head, where the orchestra performed. Claire had found us a nice location not far off the walkway around the green. We listened to the beautiful music, saw the fireworks and played with Benjamin. The train ride from downtown to the parking garage was very crowded, but the thirty minute wait to get out of the train station parking lot was the longest (because it was at 1:00 a.m. and we were all tired.)

If that wasn't enough fun, we drove to Plimouth, MA (that is how they spelled it in the Mayflower day) on Saturday and walked through the replica of the Mayflower ship. Talk about close quarters! I don't know how those Pilgrims survived the trip. We stood in front of a beautiful fountain for this photo.

Then we ate a fabulous seafood dinner at Weathervane Seafoods, 6 Town Wharf, Plymouth, MA.

Sunday evening we drove past Walden Pond, walked the famous bridge of the Minute Man park, where the first battle against the British was fought. What a peaceful and serene place it was. Benjamin loved the water! We saw Louise May Alcott's home.

We managed to fit in repairs and painting projects, but Clark and Guinevere showed us a good time too. Their house is in the bustling city of Framingham but in the woods enough that it felt like country living. Their home is beautiful and after they finish all the repairs and upgrades, it will be a show place. We have fond memories of it all. I think I would love to return to Boston in the fall to see all the colors and leaves fall. But I am skipping the walk through the woods. I carried home a tick that had climbed onto my neck at the hairline and was biting me. Gross! My final advice: check your clothes and hairlines after walking through the woods!
