What's new at our house?

An arctic fox fur! This is Steve's commission for selling the house of our former bishop. Price: about $95 according to the internet sources.


It is looking for a new permanent home. Do you know anyone who collects and displays furs and animal hides? We will sell it cheap.





The old hide-a-bed has a new home: upstairs in the toy room and craft room. When we have a house full of guests now, I have another room with a 'bed' in it. Besides, we needed somewhere to sit when the kids are playing with the toys.

So what is in the family room you might ask?


A new electric reclining love seat and sofa.

Here the love seat is reclining. The fabric is ultra suede with a soft plush feel. The color is not forest green nor gray, but somewhere between the two colors with beige piping and toss pillows.

Here is a view with the love seat in an upright position. You can see the end of the couch, next to the brass and glass lamp and the warm throw blankets for all those cold winter nights!


Also notice the little round black toggle switch to raise and lower the foot bar. I'm sure it will come in handy when I am old and decrepit and don't have the strength to push it back.





The couch, sitting next to the west facing windows near the fireplace hearth. Both ends of the couch recline, but the middle does not. We have seating for seven people in very comfortable chairs.




For those who didn't know what we got for Christmas: a 55 inch new TV. Even in this space it looks small. But hanging a mirror, 21 inches high by 44 inches long, in the space above the TV make the space appear larger. (Did I mention it covers the electrical outlets?)




The DVD's have a new shelf (new to the room anyway, taking from the toy room) in the corner. The scanner has a place near the computer when I am working on my mother's history or doing other 'scanning' projects.





We also bought a new swiveling rocking recliner to replace the old chair that used to be in the family room. Purchased in 1981, within days of Lana's birth, it has lasted all this time through children and grandchildren twirling, jumping, hanging, rocking, etc. on it for almost 31 years.

The new chair is a dark gold, looks like Berber carpet pattern, and is soft and fluffy. It's price: $239, originally priced at $800. I love the clearance center.



When I took this picture I thought of a favorite children's story. It goes something like this:

Papa bear had his favorite chair. Mama bear also had a favorite chair.

No Goldilocks will be sitting in MY CHAIR!
