We thought baby Wesley was going to make an appearance on Wednesday, May 20th. Staci had labor pains all night Tuesday, and when she went to the doctor's office at 2 p.m. on Wed. she was still dilated to 1 1/2 and 80% effaced. She had some really good labor from 2 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., including pains every two minutes, lasting 45-60 minutes. We went to the hospital at 8 p.m., and when they checked her, she was still 1 1/2 centimeters, 80% effaced after six hours of labor. They monitored the baby's heart beat and her contractions for 1 hour 15 minutes. No change! And sent her home, telling her to rest, relax, take a bath, etc. and not return to the hospital until she has the pains every two minutes, lasting 60-90 seconds, and they won't go away if she changes positions.
It is 9:38 a.m Thursday, May 21st. She and Eric are still sleeping in their room. She dosed through the night, not charting the pains. The game plan today is another doctor visit at 1:15 p.m. to see if there is any progress and have the membranes stripped some more. So, maybe baby Wesley will come today. And maybe he won't. Staci is choosing to do this all natural, including no pitocin drip. So natural takes longer.
Waiting is so hard. Pray for Staci.
