We watched the keepers scoop up droppings, put fresh hay in the bins, and ready the arena for the elephants before opening the gates for the animals to get out of the holding pens.  Here comes the first one.

Which animal is in this enclosure?

Second elephant found her way out of the holding pen.

Ben is a seal, popping up in the hole in the ice in the polar bear section.  The bears were sleeping on this too hot of a day.

Clark:  "Boys, it's time to get out.  These other kids are waiting for their turns."  Boys:  "Okay, dad."

We may not be able to climb on real elephants but the fake ones smell better.

Who knew deer could be ballerinas, standing on tiptoe, trying to reach the green leaves.  This deer remained upright for over three minutes.

Where are the animals?  I can't see them.  Dad, where are they?

In the zoo, ready to go, boys in the stroller and ready to roll!

Counsel for today:  When going to the San Diego, CA zoo on a July day, wear sunscreen.  I did.  No sunburn for me.
